Typically, infatuation with a soundtrack is a one-way street: go see the movie, enjoy the music, acquire the songs. Thatās par for the courseā¦but when youāre an avid music critic, those roles sometimes A lot of words have been used to describe La La Land.Among them, two of the most prevalent I've seen are "wish fulfillment" and "escapism". I understand why people give the film these labels; The visuals are colorful and vibrant, the music is whimsical and and romantic, and the lead couple is charming and archetypal. This is about The Lay of Lala Land. I give it 9 stars. After all, this is no Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. A note to the fellas: there is no nudity in this film, considering the subject matter. And to the ladies: this could be difficult subject matter to watch. Or also empowering, says my mom.
A word of warning to anyone that has not yet seen La La Land and plans to: Enjoy your last remaining moments before you have its entire soundtrack stuck in your head for days on end. Youāllā¦
It is quite the showy movie indeed, with absolutely none of the urban tactility that Whiplash suggested as Chazelle's chief skill (frankly, other than a strong affection for classic jazz, the two films feel like they were made by two different people; I like this Chazelle much more than the last one), but a whole lot of screaming virtuosity Here is the link: La La Land comes to Ultra HD Blu-ray from Lionsgate Home Entertainment featuring 2160pHEVC encoded video and lossless Dolby Atmos/TrueHD 7.1 sound that has an average bitrate of 3.3 Mbps. La La Land garnered a excellent report from me on its video quality in 1080p.
